The creator

Each creation is a unique piece, entirely designed, produced and assembled by hand, on a soft cotton twill or a fine-woven natural linen. The lampshades rest on legs with voluptuous curves, designed in my Bordeaux workshop, then turned by a talented cabinetmaker based in Ardèche. Each leg, whether ash or walnut, reveals its own veining.

After studying graphic design and illustration, I worked for 9 years in visual communication, in Paris, Lyon, and then Bordeaux. A year ago, between two illustrations, and curious about the possibilities offered by new materials and a new medium, I traded my paintbrush for a needle, my pencil for some thread, paper for linen, canvas for cotton… and though it was not easy, I was determined. After studying with a master lampshade craftsman, holder of the French Maître Artisan d’Art certification, as well as the Ateliers d’Art de France and Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant labels, Lou de Pray was born.

The result: a collection of custom-made lamps that, come dusk, will light up your life.

In this fast-paced world, where everything seems to become intangible, I wanted to go back to handmade creation, to an ancestral craftsmanship that deserves to be perpetuated. I want to restore these crafts, and embroidery in particular, to its former glory. I perceive and use the thread as a bridge between illustration and the lampshade, in order for my creations to not only decorate your home and interiors, but also to weave a beautiful story.
